Karen and J Alex will be covering the new types of documents that are being created as a result of the pandemic, and their retention, storage, and confidentiality requirements under the law.  They will be discussing the laws and regulations covering retention periods for any other relevant documents, and how those laws/regulations may have changed as a result of the pandemic.  These include the following areas:  Safety (OSHA), Human Resources (DOL/EEOC), Public Filings (SEC), and Tax Documents (IRS).

About Karen 

Karen Monsen has been practicing employment law and advising private clients on document retention matters for 20 years.  She has represented statewide, national, and international companies in implementing document retention and destruction policies and standards and advising on internal electronic discovery matters.  She has written extensively about and taught on the topic e-discovery for more than ten years at St. Mary’s Law School.

About J. Alex

J Alex Garcia, in addition to his juris doctorate, received a Master of Laws in Taxation in 2000.  Mr. Garcia focuses his practice on oil and gas, business transactions, estate planning and probate, trust and estate administration, trust and estate litigation, and tax representation (business and personal, domestic and international, federal and state).
